MONDAY: 9am-12noon and/or 1-4pm

COLLAGES  & POP-UPS

Whimsical and colorful collages are the first order of the day. It’ll be a morning of designing cutting, pasting, and exploring various materials (which we’ll provide). In the afternoon class we’ll make some super fun popups, such as a mystical pop-up landscape or other 3D-scape—we have a huge assortment of papers and odds and ends for both sessions. You may also bring some of your collage or miscellaneous glue-able items.

TUESDAY: 9am-12noon and/or 1-4pm

CHARACTERS & CARTOONS

We’ll begin by learning character creation with pencil, pen and markers. You’ll learn to draw a variety of facial features, shapes and bodies for your characters. We’ll work through examples of anime, cartoon and familiar comic characters. In the afternoon session, we’ll show you the mechanics of designing a comic strip. Comic strip templates will be provided, along with materials for creating the characters.

WEDNESDAY: 9am-12noon and/or 1-4pm

SOUL ART I & II

On your mark…get set…draw! We’ll be drawing or creating a piece of art every 15 minutes! Inspired by music and guided by artists, we’ll use rubber stamps, found-objects, stickers, drawing materials and more. This course is designed specifically to tap into your creativity, uncovering hidden talent and having a blast. The afternoon session is an intense continuation of the morning session.

THURSDAY: 9am-12noon and/or 1-4pm

BADGES/BUTTONS ART

In the morning we’ll be making our own professional-style, wearable badges/buttons created from our own mini-art - drawings, rubber stamps, collages, colored pencils, etc. You’ll have your choice of materials to select from including old comic books, magazines, or design your own. We’ll provide the button parts and materials to create your mini works of art.

FRIDAY: 9am-12noon and/or 1-4pm

BIG DRAWING - GRAFFITIZE

Work on your own mural or the group mural. To start, we’ll look at a few images of murals then get to work. This course will explore big art, gestural drawing and inspired work using examples and a few mediums: markers, graphite, patterned papers, glue and more. This will truly wake up your creative spirit. For those who stay for the second session, we’ll also look at forms of and create graffiti art (no spray painting).
